PLAN PHASE
The bread and butter of any successful site start with a solid well thought plan. I pride myself on developing critical thinking and strategy at this stage of a sites fruition. Based on the research I do I rely heavily on hard facts and information in developing these detailed tools: personas, users and goals, sitemaps and wireframes.
After identifying the lay of the land of the user segmentation I develop personas of the users that will be visiting the site or web application.
Using the information gathered I target the users and their goals and objectives... who, what and where will the eyeballs be clicking during their experience? I define in specific terms for the design and development team understanding and client's as well.
A well built and thought out architecture is crucial for the usability and strategy of any site. I cherish and construct a natural order and placement of information and navigation.
The devil's in the details... I design at the organic level of the site's layout and placement of vital information, visuals, navigation, call to actions and widgets
The final and often enough the most helpful in identifying building a user's experience is the flow. I've found it advantageous to utilize segments of the wires to illustrate the flow of the user's process.
My core competency for this phase have been as an Information Architect, User Experience Designer and Interaction Designer.
