The Pixie girls are often asked, "Why did you decide to open a clothing boutique?" The answer is pretty simple. Carol said to Amy one night, "I want to open a boutique and I want you to do it with me." Without hesitation Amy answered, "Please tell me you're serious." A year and a half later PIXIE was opened. |
| How did we come up with the name PIXIE? Our name was probably our most difficult decision. We must have renamed PIXIE a dozen times. We have a collection of business cards at least a dozen different names on them. The name PIXIE came to us late one night in the parking lot of HOME DEPOT less than a week from opening, both of us exhausted and practically in tears because our boutique remained unnamed. Amy started saying names randomly and one of them was PIXIE. Carol immediately yelled out "PIXIE!! That's it, that's our name." |
| What is a PIXIE? Traditionally, a pixie is a kind of fairy found in southwest England that has red-hair, blue eyes and "an extensive collection of reasonably priced elegant clothing." Today, the word pixie has broadened a bit to mean "any intelligent, independent woman who wears fun sexy clothing." Pixie is also short for the best candy ever, pixie sticks!!! |
